Interview Card · No. 004 · Strike Rate Method 2:22 – 2:00:39  (1h 58m)

Did Morgan defeat any of it?

An interrogation, not a debate — so the unit is Morgan's attempt, and every attempt gets an outcome. Fuentes carries no burden to attack; he is scored on what got through. Unlabelled transcript; see the caveat.

Winner — Nick Fuentes
Morgan threw 28, landed 6, and conducted it poorly

Morgan is the prosecution here, and he lost the case. He chose every charge, set every topic and carried the entire burden of the format; Fuentes only had to survive. Twenty-two attacks failed. Six landed. A prosecutor who loses twenty-two counts of twenty-eight has not won on the six he got.

Morgan came to break him and mostly didn't. Across two hours he put roughly twenty-eight substantive propositions to Fuentes intending to expose a fault. Six left a mark. Nineteen were answered well enough to stand and one cannot be settled from a transcript. Two he lost outright, and in both he ended up the one who couldn't produce what he'd been asked for.

What he did achieve was exposure, and it is real. I'm a racist. Totally. Yes, I do [think Hitler was cool]… and I'm tired of pretending he's not. Women should not vote. Those are not on the board below, because nothing was defeated — Fuentes volunteered every one and paid nothing. Getting a man to say what he thinks is journalism. It is not the same as showing he is wrong, and this card only measures the second thing.

Survived — wins
Nick Fuentes
Defending only. No burden to attack, so no strike rate — scored on what got through, plus the four counters he chose to land.
VS

Landed — loses
Piers Morgan
Carries the format's burden. He set every topic and chose every line of attack, so the miss rate is his and not shared.

Twenty-eight attempts, in the order he made them

Each mark is one substantive proposition Morgan put to Fuentes. Read left to right across the two hours.

The attempt ledger — every substantive line Morgan put

Landed = Fuentes left with a fault on the record. Held = he answered it well enough that nothing stuck. Backfired = Morgan finished worse than he started. Character material is excluded and listed separately below — a question about who someone is has no outcome to record. Shaded rows are the two backfires.

TimeWhat Morgan put to himOutcome
4:22Coleman Hughes: you play a double game and would pivot to the extreme in power. Fuentes concedes the personas outright and denies the pivot — that just sounds totally insane to me — and is not pressed on the denial.Held
10:05Your own family were immigrants; doesn't that undercut you? I don't believe that we should have zero immigrants forever or even zero immigrants from non-white countries, distinguished by era, origin and volume.Held
11:41Your father is half Mexican, so by your criteria he is part of the invasion. When my father's ancestors came here, it was a small fraction of the total.Held
13:15The Applebee's anecdote — was your father racist, and did it pass to you? Two incompatible accounts follow: my dad was just a food snob… it's got nothing to do with that, then these are kind of the attitudes of baby boomers. Morgan's cleanest work of the night.Landed
21:08Blacks need to be imprisoned for the most part. Narrowed to the murderers, roughly 5%. For the most part reads as a hedge at least as readily as a quantifier, so no retreat is established.Held
23:39The one-in-twenty murder figure. Sourced to Data Hazard on X and then abandoned: I don't have it in front of me.Landed
30:29White people are justified in crossing the street to avoid black people — can you stand by that? He does, at length, with a stated rationale.Held
33:10The school-shooting reductio. Most school shooters are white, so by your logic avoid white men. Fuentes answers on base rates; Morgan supplies the share of shootings three times instead of the rate within the population, goes to the children lying dead on the ground, and when he finally asserts the rates are equal is asked for the figure three times and never gives it.Backfired
40:22You've admitted you're a racist, so every view you hold is driven by skin colour. It's not an aversion… I consider myself a racial realist.Held
41:48You are yourself the product of an interracial marriage. He tries what race is Hispanic? and then abandons it in his own next breath — It's not white, and I live in a non-white neighborhood, too. I'm trying to get out of here.Landed
43:12Your one named black friend is Ye, the epitome of the victimhood narcissism you just condemned. He defends Ye on manner; Morgan counters with his own experience. Testimony against testimony.Held
45:41You have no idea how many white people commit comparable murders, do you? Demanded twice — How many? Do you know how many? — and answered You have a research team. You pull it up, then No, because I know it's far fewer from experience.Landed
53:02What do you actually mean by world Jewry, and how does it square with not hating Jews? Answered in full: the World Jewish Congress runs an annual State of World Jewry keynote, plus peoplehood and the Congress's elected structure.Held
57:31Jews and Christians have never been friends. Ever against I have many [Jewish friends]. Resolved as peoples versus individuals, with the black/white analogy.Held
59:03The Holocaust numbers. He gives 6, 7 million, says it could even be higher, and later I actually haven't made up my mind. Whether the middle line is sincere or mocking decides whether this is a contradiction, and tone cannot be read from a transcript. Unresolved rather than held.Unresolved
1:02:38The documentary-evidence case: trial confirmations, recovered records, deaths broken out by cause. Fuentes accepts it — let that speak for itself — having already said he was open to believing the official narrative. Nothing to defeat; common ground.Held
1:09:13Danny Finkelstein's account of his murdered family. Dismissed as propaganda: we've been hearing that our entire lives… we have been browbeaten as a people. Repugnant, and not defeated.Held
1:16:49You weaponize this stuff for money. Rebutted with a specific checkable fact — I'm banned from banking… banned from processing credit cards — whereupon Morgan concedes the debanking was wrong (you shouldn't have been) without withdrawing the charge or substantiating your company's worth $100 million.Backfired
1:22:22The natalist trap: telling men women are insufferable undercuts your own demographic alarm. We have to do it in spite of the fact that they are annoying. Morgan concedes the extrapolation.Held
1:26:20A lot of women want to be raped. Clarified to fantasy, attached to a 62% study, and the rest reaffirmed. The study goes unchallenged.Held
1:34:29Are you the best person to lecture anyone about performative cruelty? Answered with a specific case about the deportation spectacle and the figures.Held
1:36:27Are you a white supremacist — do you think white people are superior? No. I'm a Christian. So I believe everybody is equal before God.Held
1:36:49Equal before God but no equal rights — so you just talked a little shit, didn't you? Answered on distinct biological and social roles following into law.Held
1:37:39The Catholic Church holds that women shouldn't vote. Told flatly it does not, he repeats it, then folds: I think so. Yeah. But I'm not positive.Landed
1:41:54You should have said that to Tucker Carlson's face. Answered with a complete chronology — cordial in person, critical afterwards in every subsequent interview.Held
1:45:41Musk says you're a Fed. Answered with sworn testimony to the House January 6th subcommittee. One of his strongest moments.Held
1:47:11Disregard the police — you don't support law and order. Answered on that day's conduct, Ashli Babbitt, and the loss of legitimacy.Held
1:48:02Show me the actual hardcore incontrovertible evidence of rigging. He offers the mail-in mechanism and one anecdote about a dead uncle's ballot. No evidence of rigging is produced.Landed

The arithmetic

One row per outcome. The denominator is the point of the method: an interviewer who lands six from twenty-eight has been out-defended for most of two hours, however the six read as clips.

Fuentes has no strike rate, by design. He set no topics and carried no burden to attack, so counting his attempts would measure how often he chose to fight rather than how well he did. Where he did counter-attack he landed four times: the school-shooting figure Morgan never produced, the debanking rebuttal to the money charge, the Israel double standard at 1:21:06 that Morgan abandoned mid-subject (Are we done talking about white genocide?), and every independent body that has looked at this at 1:51:01, challenged by there's never been an independent ballot audit and never named.

Conduct — graded for both, and kept out of the verdict

An interview run through personal attacks and bad-faith questioning is a worse interview, and the card says so. It does not move the strike rate: conduct rests on instance-counts soft by an instance either way, and a soft count has no business deciding a binary result. Both men are graded, on different standards. Morgan is running the format on his own programme and is held to a professional one; Fuentes is a guest, held to the ordinary standard of turning up and engaging in good faith. Expect the grades to differ — scoring them identically would be reporting volume while claiming to report conduct. Graded on procedure, not decency — how repugnant a man's views are is content, and a grade that absorbs it is scoring “who sounded worse”, the one axis this method never scores.

Mixed
Poor

Morgan — poor. Thirteen attacks, every one initiated, all on a single humiliating theme, concentrated into three runs totalling roughly eight minutes in which no proposition was put. Four are not questions at all — Are you into that? You like that? and I bet you've seen videos, haven't you? seek no answer. Both reciprocity failures are the same shape: he demanded a murder rate at 23:52 then refused the school-shooter rate three times at 37:15–37:33, and he demanded incontrovertible evidence of rigging while sourcing every independent body to nobody. Excluded: his one argued instance at 1:28:26, where the personal fact is the premise of a real argument the guest then answered.

Fuentes — mixed. Most of his eleven are returns: he does not touch Morgan's person until Morgan opens with misogynist old dinosaur at 1:25:08, and simp, henpecked, beta-male orbiter, the pink hat and the tampon line all follow it. Four are his own, and two of those are the worst conduct by either man in the interview. Are you black? Cuz you're being very rude (49:29) uses race as an insult to his interlocutor's face. And at 1:11:32 and again at 1:12:41 he answers Danny Finkelstein — a named man, not in the room, describing a starved grandmother and a great-aunt sent to the gas chamber — in a comedy accent: an old Jewish guy from England who's going to say ‘Oh, that very funny, mate. Me mum.’ And it's like, shut up. His argument about such testimony is content and belongs in the ledger. Ridiculing the man is not an argument, and it is counted here.

Mixed rather than poor because the procedural half is genuinely good: he answered essentially every question put to him, never refused a figure he had demanded himself, and twice cooled the room — bring it down a notch and relax, this is just an interview — which Morgan confirms at 1:31:48: when you've asked me to calm down, I've calmed down. He turned up, engaged, and did not evade — and twice behaved worse than anything Morgan said to him. Both halves are true, which is what the grade records. Not counted: you're not even American (17:51), which is not an insult but a true and relevant observation about who is placed to describe American cities, and which Morgan answered on the merits.

The cost of Morgan's conduct is not a deduction. It is the twenty-ninth and thirtieth attempts that never got made. Every minute on Fuentes's virginity was a charge he did not bring.

Off the board — and it is most of what the interview is known for

Exposure, which worked

  1. I'm a racist. Totally. 26:21
  2. Yes, I do [think Hitler was cool]… and I'm tired of pretending he's not. 1:08:52
  3. Women should not have the vote. 1:24:56
  4. Never had sex; never been in love. 1:25:28 / 1:58:48
  5. Why he used an ethnic slur about Usha Vance — answered about somebody else entirely. 1:54:26

Why none of it scores

  1. Every one was volunteered and cost him nothing. He says so himself: I own the labels… I just don't care that much about that.
  2. A question about who someone is, or what they admit to being, puts no proposition for them to defeat.
  3. Getting a man to say what he thinks on camera is journalism, and Morgan did it well. Showing he is wrong is a different job. You cannot win what the other man hands you.
  4. A card that scored these would be measuring how bad the guest sounds, which is the axis where bias enters and where every accusation of bias lands.

Integrity checks

Independently checked

Every outcome on this card was re-read by a separate reviewer working from the full transcript, briefed to argue that each one was wrong. The brief matters: not is this defensible but what is the best case that this is a miss. Three findings changed the card — a fault counted against one man and never looked for against the other at 45:41, one exchange recorded twice under two headings, and two probable speaker mix-ups in crosstalk.

The check exists because a scorer re-reading his own work is the weakest possible audit: the error is always a line read one way and never read the other, and the person who made the first reading is the worst placed to produce the second.

What this card does not measure

Truth. No fact-checking enters an outcome. Held means answered well enough that nothing stuck in the room, not correct. Several claims Fuentes made are checkably false and are recorded as held because Morgan never challenged them: in Chicago, there's like 10,000 carjackings and car thefts every day (39:25, which would exceed the city's population annually), 50% of the live births in the United Kingdom and in the United States are non-white (1:19:38), and they killed multiple people about police on January 6th (1:47:39). On the murder rate at 23:52 both men asserted a figure and neither sourced it; outside the ledger, Morgan's is approximately right and Fuentes's is not.

Tone. A transcript carries none, which is why the Holocaust row is marked unresolved rather than held. Whether it could be 100 times more is sincere or mocking decides that row and cannot be settled from text.

Resources. Morgan has a studio and a research desk he invoked on air (we have a bunch of fact checkers checking all this in real time); Fuentes is alone on a remote feed. That makes Morgan's failure to produce a demanded figure worse than the same words from Fuentes. It is noted here and kept out of the count.
