Ask an AI or a commentator who won and you get a feeling. We count events on the tape, weight them, and let the total decide.
Each fault one side commits is a point for the other. Higher total wins.
In an interview only one side is attacking. The interviewer picks every topic and every line of attack; the guest only has to survive. Counting hits alone would hide how many attacks missed, so interviews are scored per attempt: every substantive proposition the interviewer puts is marked landed, held, backfired or unresolved. The interviewer carries the burden, so the miss rate is theirs alone.
Truth. A card scores who argued better in that recording, not who is right. A false claim nobody challenged is recorded as held. Where that matters, the card says so.
Tone. A transcript can't tell sarcasm from sincerity. Rows that turn on tone are marked unresolved.
Who said what, without audio. Speaker labels decide every row. Cards scored from a transcript without speaker labels are marked provisional until the audio is separated by speaker.
